The goal wasn’t to reinvent the tournament. It was to make 35 years of history feel current, distinctive, and flexible enough for the next chapter.

For the Utah Championship’s 35th anniversary, the Utah Sports Commission needed a fresh visual direction that could celebrate the tournament’s history without abandoning an established identity, sponsor hierarchy, and existing brand standards. As the freelance designer, I developed multiple anniversary concepts and refined the selected direction into a flexible visual system, including anniversary graphics, supporting motifs, and application examples across digital and physical formats.

The system evolved into a history-led visual language built around atmospheric photography, restrained texture, bold typography, and the recurring use of “35” as a storytelling device rather than simply an anniversary badge. For social, I organized the system around three content pillars—Champions, Tournament Intel, and 35 Years of History—and developed repeatable formats for player features, results, schedules, countdowns, archival stories, then-and-now content, and course atmosphere. The result was a framework designed to give the internal team variety while keeping every execution recognizably part of the same campaign.
